Les W. Carter, MBA, DBA
Associate Professor of Finance, Les Carter is chair of the Entrepreneurship programs at St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas, and has more than 25 years of business experience. Prior to joining St. Edward's, he held executive positions at various companies including executive vice president of financial services, The Ontra Companies Inc.; financial vice president, Middendorf, Ansary & Harrison; group vice president, First American Bank of Maryland; president, Texas Commerce Bank-Greens Crossing; and assistant vice president, Texas Commerce Bank-Houston. Dr. Carter has participated in the organization and startup of multiple companies; advises both entrepreneurial and established companies in the United States, Europe, and Central America; and serves as president of Performance Analysis LLC, a consulting firm focused on the financial services industry and small business operations.
Hamilton Beazley, MBA, Ph.D.
Hamilton Beazley is Scholar-in-Residence at St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas. He received his B.A. degree in psychology from Yale University, his M.B.A. degree in accounting from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, and his Ph.D. degree in organizational behavior from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Beazley served in various financial and strategic planning positions in the American oil industry and as president of two national non-profit organizations in New York City and Washington, D.C. He is a current or former member of multiple for-profit and not-for-profit Boards in both the United States and Europe. Dr. Beazley is the author of eight books and is the co-creator of Secret's Out, a television series that aired on the B.B.C. during the 1984-1987 seasons.
Dr. Beazley has appeared on NBC, CNN, CNBC, Fox, and the Oprah Winfrey Show, and has been interviewed on a variety of radio programs. He has been quoted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Boston Herald, USA Today, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Fortune, Investor's Business Daily, and numerous other newspapers and periodicals, and he has testified before committees of both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate as an expert witness.
Chris C. Ragland
Chris Ragland has served as an officer or director of over a dozen start-up companies that range in size from a half dozen employees to several hundred, with annual earnings as high as $500 million. Specializing in rapid business growth, and business process analysis, Chris has overseen acquisitions, turn-arounds, and divestitures.
Currently serving as an officer or Board member for several businesses, Chris has a broad range of experience in real estate, high tech, wireless, the arts, and insurance. Active in his community, Chris works with Texas Parks and Wildlife, Caritas, The Salvation Army, and as a volunteer coach for kids. He is a graduate of St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas, with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.
